  4. Tried the murasaki mixed bento box, highly recommended! The portions are just right per person and it’s nice to finally find a Japanese that delivers.

  6. The only decent place you can go to get chicken that isn’t covered in breadcrumbs and deep fried! Recommended for a quick bite and relatively cheap, oh and they sell beer and wine! Glad Nandos finally made it to Brighton! ;)

  8. Had appalling experience with this company. Ordered takeaway. Still hadn’t arrived after 1 hour and a half. Called restaurant and was told it would be there in 3 minutes. 15 minutes later it arrived but was the wrong order. Got terrible attitude from staff on phone. Was told they could not refund my money. Staff said they did not know the name of the manager so could not tell me. Eventually they agreed to refund me but said they would have to send someone out to pick up the food. They said it would take 10 minutes. Half an hour later someone arrived. It was 10.30pm by this time. Tired and hungry and fed up with unhelpful attitude from staff. Appalling. Will never order from them again.

  10. Great food from the restaurant also the meal was great from the take away. 45min waiting time or 1 hour. freshly made shushi and tempura. Emma mybe u are just an unlucky person. and wrong food would be the driver fault. and u called the restaurant.. why call there ? call the take away. Great food from Murasaki.. thank youu.

  12. Just to let anyone thinking of ordering off the menu provided here know that its completely out of date and they either don’t do half the stuff on the menu anymore or its got a different number.
    an update would be nice please.

  14. The menu is always being updated, look closer to see some errors in spelling. There is a revision on the menu, the one scanned IS OUT OF DATE, therefore the menu here is NOT reliable. I eat a lot of the food myself, but I fear the timing given is incorrect. I think it’s the in-store staff that answer do not know how long it will take the driver to get to me. When I get it, it’s nice an hot

  16. This place is TERRIBLE! Horrible attitude from staff, very bitchy and unhelpful. Food is alright (when you eventually get it) but horrifically over priced. Not worth the time nor the money. The amount of food you get for the price it costs will not fill you, very dainty ‘fashionable’ food. But if you want great food, go somewhere else.

    I will never be eating here again.

  18. incompetent staff can’t handle an order for two people, once food arrived there was only food for one. So a quick phone call back was greeted by stubborn staff refusing to admit fault therefore refusing to offer any sort of compensation other than sweets. Too annoyed to hand over more money to these idiots I write this hungry while my girlfriend us hapily eating away.

  24. My pet gerbil Frank ordered a prawn sushi, squid sushi and a advocado roll, plus a glass of 7 up. He said the food was lovely and fresh and he would go back again. He said the prices were a little on the high side, but overall a top place to eat.

  26. Looks like a real mix of reviews. I’ve eaten at the restaurant and found it to be a fun, and fulfilling. Just about to take the plunge and order take away, crosses fingers!

    As the reviews seem quite polar ( normally a sign that only the people with terrible experiences are posting ) I’ll try to put my review here no matter what the outcome.

  28. So I ordered delivery that night. And it was great! Yes it was an hour, but I was ordering at after 7.00 on a Saturday. People should try and not compare sushi to indian or pizza delivery, Sushi takes time to prepare, so don’t expect to have a gut busting experience for a few quid. I ordered two Bento and a sashami and it was everything I could have hoped for, and easily fed 3 for £30. It took an hour to arrive, which is exactly how long they said it would.

  30. Not brilliant. Ordered a bento box and chilli don – chilli don was so bad that it didn’t get finished and the bento box was average at best. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Had Murasaki last night! found the staff really friendly and helpful on the phone- the food took 45 minutes as was informed! we had a sushi platter that was really tasty (massive) and pretty! we also tried some of the hot meals (yaki niku, chilli karaage don and the salmon tempura) all really good. Going to order again next week!!!

  36. After drinking huge amounts of pale sherry in the local pub and then getting nowhere with the ladies, my pet gerbil Frank decided he fancied some sushi. He cannot remember what he ordered due to the effects of the sherry. He would however like to say sorry to the staff of murasaki for his foul language and for the state he left the toilet in.

  38. We ordered takeaway. Food came after 90 minutes (they promised 45-60 min). But only half of the food arrived. That part was chicken bento box, and it was cold. The miso soups were cold. Having spent a good part of the Friday night to call in for the other sushi box we ordered, it finally arrived.

    The sushi was weird. Not japanese style at all. Far too big, badly made and the fish was bad smelling.

    We are not going to order with Murasaki again. Be warned. Moshi Moshi will get our next order, even if we have to pay the taxi. (they don’t have a home delivery).

    I am a sushi lover and tried virtually every place in Brighton serving sushi. I wouldn’t reccomend this one, food was bland, chewy, tasteless. I also had from them chicken and salmon dish, both tasted like plastic.

  42. After a long day spent fitting new lights to his Raleigh Chopper bike, my pet gerbil Frank decided to try Murasaki again after he had last visited this sushi restaurant back on 5th Oct. This time he was more sober and he said the food and staff were lovely. He took a big shine to a waitress called ‘Suki’ who he was going to ask for a date, but as he is a Gerbil he thought she would not be interested as Frank is only 4 inches high when standing on his back legs. He said he may return one day and try his luck after he has downed 12 cans of Special Brew lager.

  44. I always enjoy a bit of Murasaki bento, their gyoza are delicious (although MoMos wins the dumpling contest) and teriyaki chicken is about twice the size of Yo Sushi without the huge price tag. Delivery is relatively slow, but I’ve only ever seen one delivery boy which may explain that!

  46. After his last visit on 21st Jan, my pet gerbil Frank stumbled across Murasaki again. He said the food was delightful and full of flavour. On his last visit, Frank took a liking to a waitress called ‘Suki’. It turns out that ‘Suki’ is infact a bloke who works as a docker in his spare time in Portsmouth. Frank says he will never drink again after this episode in his love life. Daft Gerbil!

After waiting nearly an hour for my mixed bento box, I was told I didn’t have the right money as the prices had gone up, although this hasn’t been update online. i’d also asked for thin rice noodle stir fry and received thick egg noodles. the spring roll was so flat that it didn’t actually have ANY filling it it, just a deep fried flap of pastry. The quality was like it has been reheated from frozen. All in all a thoroughly disappointing meal and totally not worth the money. This is a shame, because it just doesn’t compare to the restaurant, which is fab.

  50. Right, I’m new to Brighton so I’ve been trying to find a nice Japanese restaurant. I ordered from this one and then scrolled down fully to look at some of the reviews, many of which were negative.

    PLEASE HEED! The sushi was dreadful – the fish wasn’t fresh and smelled awful. I ate some of the tuna without realising at first and regretted it. There’s nothing worse – it turns my stomach thinking about it. The rest was mediocre at best.

    I then rang them to say that the fish was old and they said most likely it had been purchased YESTERDAY and this couldn’t be the case. They said the manager wasn’t there and they would ring me back about it – this hasn’t happened. Please don’t order from here!!!

  54. having driven to the shop as the phone line was busy for over half hour i waited a long time waiting for them to call me to come and collect food. Was really disappointed by the bbq ribs, they were really rubbery and dry with not enough sauce. Dumplings were soggy but Tempura was okay…but really okay. Overall feel like i just wasted 25 quid . . Murasaki if you read this i think its really important you specify on the menu how much you are getting . didnt expect to have 2 burgers and there were a lot of ribs..which i didnt eat because it was like chewing rubber. Im not really the type to write these complaints but it wasnt cheap and really not very good.
