  12. Tongs is the best. Great food and ‘Pete’ always gives such a friendly welcome (and freebies for regulars). Highly recommended.

  14. Tong’s is VERY tasty. Not over-greasy. Loads of meat in each portion. Well-priced. Quick delivery (on Friday night too). All round winner! Like it. Will eat there again. Do it.

  18. Well it’s not bad, but it’s nothing special I would say. I prefer Happy Garden generally, though they’ve not been on top form recently.

    Tally Ho.

  20. I got their menu threw my letter box couple days ago. I love crispy duck so give them a try and 3 of us ordered just over £30 food and the lady on the phone said just pay £1 extra to get a half crispy duck so which we did and their duck was lovely. Very Fast Delivery. Highly Recommended.

  22. Absolutely the best of the best. Mr Tong v. friendly. When we lived local we were greeted by name by Mr Tong both in the takeaway and out and about during the day. Always friendly and welcoming.
Food is excellent and as previous commenters have noted, provide freebies to regulars and always point out cheaper or better alternatives. Never had a bad meal and, even though we live outside their delivery radius, still get hot food delivered to our door (and still with the free extras).
I would recommend that everyone try it at least once. You’ll not regret it.

  24. I had a bad experience with Tong’s a couple of years ago with virtually empty pancake rolls. Reading the previous encouraging reviews – I will give it another go.

  26. I used to get my Chinese from Chopsticks, Baker St. which is still, I understand excellent, however I now go to After 5 as its closer and can order to collect in 10 mins! I do not know if the legendary Pete Tong (apparently yes, that is his real name) is still the owner – nonetheless, the food is always hot, with plenty of good quality meat, the choice and consistency of dishes is excellent, and the staff are eloquent and efficient and honest about delivery estimates (popularity seems to be increasing), plus the duck offer for an extra pound is awesome! Just finished off my Singapore rice noodles, why can’t I make mine taste like this! Possibly because of msg use, but i have no bad reaction to the stuff and don’t mind the occassional savoury treat of glutamates which we often find in smaller quantities in natural food anyways. Haven’t tried new Thai or Japenese dishes but to summarise, tasty, hot, good value – Well bum.

  28. After spending all afternoon in the local private shop, my pet gerbil Frank went into After 5 and ordered from their set menu. He said the food was lovely, but was not happy when one of the staff took the piss out of his fluffy green socks and flip-flops. Due to this, my pet gerbil Frank will not be returning!
